1001 is offering two grant opportunities for leaders of our NWC’s to nurture their own faith journey and growth by taking time to practice the spiritual discipline of sabbath.
Too often a time of rest, renewal, and sabbath is not given space and attention in the all too busy life of the leader. But sabbath practice is a commandment for a reason! Without it, leaders quickly end up in places of isolation, burnout, and depression.
We invite you to apply for one of these grant opportunities to help facilitate your own spiritual, physical, emotional well-being and growth.
Sabbath Grant – This opportunity is for NWC leaders with at least 2 years of experience and is for $1500 to be used for at least one-week of Sabbath retreat.
Sabbatical Grant – This opportunity is for NWC leaders with at least 5 years of experience and is for $3500 to be used for at least a four-week Sabbatical.
Each grant will require a Sabbath advocate from the community and Presbytery support. Once approved the recipient will meet with 1001 staff to formulate a sabbath plan that will help you truly engage in a practice that will refresh your body and your spirit. If selected, this grant will be paid to and disbursed through your Presbytery.
The online application for the 1001 Sabbath/Sabbatical Grant is hosted by Kaleidoscope. This grant program is administrated by Financial Aid for Service staff in Theology, Formation, and Evangelism in partnership with the 1001 program.
