Over 40% of the new worshiping communities supported by 1001 are communities of immigrants, and God is worshipped in over 13 languages in them! To partner with an immigrant community is to accept an invitation to learn and discover how the Spirit moves in the rhythms and accents of the people and families who make up all of Christ’s Church.
We are gathering the insight, experiences, and expertise of our immigrant NWC Leaders, mid council staff, and from across the national offices of the PC(USA) to support the leaders who come from far away to create new gatherings of disciples in the United States. These resources will help leaders navigate our policy and practices – and help partner presbyteries and congregations learn how to support and encourage our new neighbors and friends.
The resources here will grow over time, but get started with our cornerstone resource Accents: Emphasis on Immigrant New Worshiping Communities by Gad Mpoyo, Rafael Viana, and Sungwoo (Sam) Kim.
