What brings you joy?
For years, or maybe more than that, our life has been intense. So much has been happening—in our country, in the world, and in our own lives. How are you managing it all? When I was a child, I couldn’t wait to grow up, but now I realize that being an adult means losing some of that pure joy and innocence. EVERY.DAY. we’re exposed to so much tragedy. [...] Today, I want to focus on something that brings joy. What has brought you joy recently—this week or even this month?
Reflections on Disability Inclusion Sunday
September 8, 2024, is Disability Inclusion Sunday in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.). Interestingly, the Gospel reading for this Sunday in the Revised Common Lectionary is Mark 7:24–37. This passage recounts how Jesus casts out a demon from the daughter of a Syrophoenician woman and heals a man who is deaf and has a speech impairment. [...] To help navigate this, the Office of Theology and Worship, along with Presbyterians for Disability Concerns (PDC), has provided some thoughtful considerations in this handout: Reflections on Disability Inclusion Sunday.
Share the goooood-talk of everyday saints
I invite you to join me in this new year's dreamy space of the "everyday saint," deliberately in lowercase to emphasize its humble yet authentic essence, aligning with the Reformed spirit of the "priesthood of all believers" embodied in sainthood. [...] they could be friends like your next-door neighbor, presently engaged in serving God and their neighbors in your modest yet significant everyday space. Or they could be strangers you randomly ran into on the street who showed you mysterious kindness. [...] Share their stories with me. Let's spread the good news.
