I Want YOU!

I have been feeling a lot like the 1940s Uncle Sam poster that says, “I want you” with a big finger pointing at the reader. Except I was not alive in the 1940s, I’m not male and I’m not representing the government. Though, I am looking for YOU to join the Ambassador program. I want… Read more »

My New Gig with Special Offerings

During one of the interviews for this position, I sat at dinner next to Rev. Sarah Lisherness  as she was telling me about the type of work done by the programs under the Compassion, Peace and Justice Ministries of the Presbyterian Mission Agency (PMA). And suddenly, I had this existential, out of body experience. I felt this overwhelming sense of deep awe and gratitude. “I get to be a part of the hands on work God is doing in the world,” I thought, “Wow!” (My deep psyche is not very articulate.)

GA: The Oscars of the Presbyterian Church

“This is like the Oscars of the Presbyterian Church,” I found myself saying one day at General Assembly.

Being at the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church is none other than electrifying, energizing and all around Presby-nerdy. I met people who were “church-famous” and others who were “book-famous.” There were some that were so famous that I just watched them from afar (um, Jack Rogers).  I saw friends from a long ago and friends from yesterday. I met so many amazing people, I could hardly keep track.  Although, you can checkout #selfieswithsally on Facebook or Twitter to see some of the amazing folks I met (i included a couple of great examples after the break.)

Fresh New Look, Same Great Impact.

It’s an exciting day in the Special Offerings office, as we are finally ready to bring you something we’ve been working on for a little while (okay, a long while) now. So, we’re going to take a quick break from promoting the Pentecost Offering to announce the brand-new Special Offerings website! Well, technically it’s just five new landing pages (one general page and one for each of the individual offerings), that are still located under the PC(USA) web umbrella, but we really don’t like speaking in technicalities 🙂

Garden of Your Mind (Video)

Just for Fun! Since, like me and my Louisville colleagues, many of you are still thawing-out from the historic low temperatures earlier this week, I wanted to end the week with something fun. I’ll probably do this a lot. So, without further a-do, here’s a great video from PBS Studios starring one of our more… Read more »

Removing the Clouds of Ambiguity

Presbyterian Giving Catalog One of my favorite things about working for Special Offerings is helping Presbyterians connect their decision to give, regardless of the amount, with the impact their gift can have in the life of another, but it’s also one of the most challenging. While we can share as many stories as we want… Read more »

Finding Online Resources

Tech Tip Tuesday In light of the recent changes to the way we distribute certain resources for the Special Offerings, I thought it would be great to kick-off the first Tech Tip Tuesday with a tutorial on how to find and download resources directly from the Special Offerings website. For this demonstration we’re going use… Read more »

Looking Forward to an Amazing 2014

Greetings from a cold and (very) snowy Indianapolis! I’d like to take a second to welcome you all to Daily Offerings, the brand-new Special Offerings blog! Although we’ve wandered into this environment in the past, we want to be more intentional in regards to regular posting in 2014 — in fact, my personal goal is… Read more »
