Inspiring partners in mission

As we entered each village, people (especially the women) greeted us with singing, dancing, clapping and broad smiles. During our weeklong mission trip, we visited people and projects in remote villages of the Zomba district in southeastern Malawi assisted by Villages in Partnership (VIP, a nonprofit organization established in 2008 by Presbyterians in New Jersey).

Living Waters for the World Joins with Cimorelli to highlight global water crisis

Living Waters for the World (LWW), the global ministry of Synod of Living Waters, has partnered with popular all-girl singing group Cimorelli to raise awareness of the world’s water crisis and LWW’s efforts to address it. The group’s youngest members, Dani and Lauren, along with their father Mike Cimorelli, recently traveled to Cuba with LWW to meet with partners there.  Their resulting awareness campaign, which includes the release of the song, Thirst For Life.

Once a refugee, now a hunger advocate

Next to the entrance of Lucy Janjigian’s apartment is a drawing that her granddaughter made. It depicts Janjigian, her granddaughter and the words “My grandmother helps orphans in Armenia. She inspires me to help other people.” Her granddaughter has pigtails. Janjigian has a superhero cape. In real life, Janjigian is a bit of a superhero.

New documentary addresses Flint, Michigan water crisis

Presbyterian Disaster Assistance has released a trailer for a new documentary currently in production on the water crisis in Flint, Michigan. The film, entitled “Flint”, focuses on the health issues surrounding high levels of lead in the city’s water system.

Despite the Trump administration’s anti-environmental policies, delegates to a recent climate convention in Bonn, Germany, are prepared to continue their fight for environmental protection, says a Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) delegate to that convention.
