Presbyterian Mission Agency Board hears from Way Forward Commission and All Agency Review Committee

The Presbyterian Mission Agency Board wrapped up its first day of meetings in Cincinnati by hearing from representatives of the Way Forward Commission (WFC) and the All Agency Review Committee (AARC). Despite weeks of lengthy meetings and phone calls between both groups and the board’s Governance Task Force, there is still no unified agreement on the A Corp proposal based on Wednesday’s meeting.

Presbyterian groups meet to debate corporate structure

Following a nearly two-year process that began at the 222nd General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) in Portland, Ore., three groups are gathering April 8-9 to iron out disagreements over a joint recommendation from the Way Forward Commission (WFC) and All Agency Review Committee (AARC) on the corporate organization of the denomination.

The Presbyterian Mission Agency Board (PMAB) held a nearly two-and-a-half-hour conference call yesterday to discuss a proposal by its Governance Task Force (GTF) in light of recommendations made to the structure and operation of the agency’s corporate function — commonly referred to as the “A Corp” — by the All Agency Review Committee (AARC) and Way Forward Commission (WFC).

Presbyterian advocacy committees pen open letter to Way Forward Commission

The Advocacy Committee for Women’s Concerns (ACWC) and the Advocacy Committee for Racial Ethnic Concerns (ACREC) issued an open letter to the Way Forward Commission today expressing “profound concern” of proposed actions that may segregate “the material voice and vote of the advocacy committees.”

Way Forward plans to vote on recommendations this week

On Feb. 15, the Way Forward Commission is expected to formally vote to approve its recommendations to the 2018 General Assembly — sprinting to meet a Feb. 16 deadline for submitting those recommendations to the Office of the General Assembly.

PMA Board affirms per capita increases, hears committee reports

The Presbyterian Mission Agency Board (PMAB) concluded its February meeting here today approving a recommended an increase in per capita funding to be considered by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) General Assembly 223 (2018) this summer in St. Louis.
