On Earth Day, First Presbyterian Church celebrated in worship by making prayer flags for one of the low-water gardens on their church campus. The worship service was focused on their role in caring for creation and they used the following Psalm to guide them as they made the flags:
Praise God from the earth,
you great sea creatures and all ocean depths,
lightning and hail, snow and clouds,
stormy winds that do his bidding,
you mountains and all hills,
fruit trees and all cedars,
wild animals and all cattle,
small creatures and flying birds.
(Psalm 148:7-10)
The flags hanging in the garden have attracted new people from the neighborhood, who have found moments to just sit quietly.
Thank you, First Presbyterian Church for a wonderful idea of not only making prayer flags, but displaying them for all to see! This is a wonderful bringing together of all facets of a community.
