Sera will begin her call at the Presbyterian Mission Agency on June 9, 2014. Sera’s first assignment will be to travel to Detroit to participate and observe at the 221st General Assembly (2014) in Detroit.

Sera received her Master of Divinity degree from Princeton Theological Seminary with a concentration in religion and culture. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Binghamton University. She speaks fluent Korean and English and can read, speak and write in Spanish and Japanese. In 2012-2013, Sera served a year-long internship at the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations.

The Gender and Racial Justice position has been changed, and the associate in this office will focus on research and writing, including working with Research Services to post and publish articles on race and gender, share the results of the recently released panel on race, and begin the study on the status of women. The associate will also hold forums and gather focus groups at the national level, in mid councils and congregations to address issues of gender equality and racial justice, and she will write brief theological papers and reports for assemblies and meetings of the church. The Office of Gender and Racial Justice also offers “Building the Beloved Community” (antiracism) trainings for church leaders.

Sera served as a Research Assistant at Princeton University, and assisted in conducting in-depth interviews and research for a national study of religious leaders. She was a student partner with the Office of Multicultural Relations, researching the revitalization of the Asian American Program at Princeton. Sera is also an accomplished musician.

Please welcome Sera to the Presbyterian Mission Agency.

We look forward to being colleagues in ministry with Sera.
