Referendum Tension Builds in Sudan — Nonviolent Peaceforce Takes Action

The Nonviolent Peaceforce is at work in Sudan in these days before the referenda in Southern Sudan and Abyei. Recognizing the potential for wide-scale dislocation that would force people from their homes with little food and scarce access to basic resources, NP is working to reduce and prevent such displacement ahead of time. In addition to their current sites, NP plans to extend its presence into Mvolo County in West Equatoria state and expand into Unity state.
