Participants in the People's International Election Observers Mission visited with the Morong 43 before returning to their home countries.
The Morong 43 are forty-three health workers who were arrested in the Philippines in February. Among them is Dr. Alexis Montes, who has been involved in the health ministry of the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.
The charges are that they were engaged in a a training seminar on making bombs. They and their supporters maintain that it was a medical training seminar. They have been held every since. Reports indicate that they have been tortured.
Thirty-eight of the Morong 43 are held in Camp Bagong Diwa. The other five are held atCamp Capinpin.
The visitors went through an extensive screening process, that included a number of stamps for their arms, before being allowed into the camp.
