Streetside vigil demands an end to Title 42

On Friday Tucson Borderlands Young Adult Volunteers joined with members of a partner organization, Tucson Mennonite Voluntary Service, to hold a streetside vigil demanding the removal of Title 42, the federal policy that has expelled more than 1.2 million asylum seekers since the beginning of the pandemic.

PC(USA), Mid-Kentucky Presbytery to hold Breonna Taylor vigil

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Presbytery of Mid-Kentucky will host Remembering Breonna Taylor: Vigil for Justice at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Sunday at Beulah Presbyterian Church, 6704 Bardstown Road in Louisville.

Faith communities call on administration to welcome 75K refugees

The Rev. Jimmie Hawkins, director of the Office of Public Witness, joined faith leaders from major Christian denominations to host a prayer vigil and rally in Lafayette Park in front of the White House on Wednesday. Their call to witness was to demand that the Trump administration stop slashing the refugee program and welcome 75,000 new refugees in 2019. The rally, sponsored by Church World Service, was held prior to the administration’s planned consultation meeting with Congress, which is expected soon, although no firm date has been set.

Presbyterian Center holds prayer vigil in solidarity with Standing Rock protests

While Presbyterians and more than 500 other clergy gathered in North Dakota in support of the Native American water protectors last Thursday, the Presbyterian Center in Louisville was the site of a prayer vigil held at the same time. The short vigil, organized by staff, allowed Presbyterians and others in and around Louisville to stand in solidarity with the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe.
