Last day of PC(USA) 2020 Vision Team meeting addresses report’s final form

The 2020 Vision Team of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) concluded its final face-to-face meeting here today after spending three days discussing the format and contents of the draft report it will submit to the 223rd General Assembly of the denomination meeting this summer in St. Louis.

2020 Vision Team meets in Dallas to draft General Assembly report

Following an opening devotional by team member Rebecca Snedeker-Meier, the 2020 Vision Team of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) started their meeting today to begin forming their draft recommendation to the 223rd General Assembly of the denomination meeting in St. Louis this summer.

In January 2017, remembering his legacy and recalling the “Dr. King’s Unfinished Agenda” conference (PNS stories #1, #2 and #3) at the Montreat Conference Center, Denise Anderson and Jan Edmiston, Co-Moderators of the 222nd General Assembly (2016) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), urged the church to work to stand against “racism, poverty, war, and materialism” by issuing the “MLK Weekend: A Call to Action” letter.

The 2020 Vision Team is trying to work its way through a first draft of its report to the 2018 General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) – hoping to hit the right mix of being short, yet challenging; being grounded in biblical history and also looking forward. For sure, it’s an intricate dance.
