Mixed in with the dozens of events that make up the Presbyterian Youth Triennium (PYT)—including worship services, small group discussions, Bible studies and advocacy opportunities—are daily recreation times designed to engage body, mind, soul, along with forging relationships.
If you had a chance to share a cup of coffee with Jesus, what would you talk about? Young adults attending the 2016 Youth Triennium have the opportunity to imagine that conversation and record it into their personal journal at the Pause Prayer Center, a reflective and meditative antidote to the mostly high energy events that mark the triennial gathering held on Purdue University’s campus.
Another upbeat worship service brought together more than 4,700 attendees at the Presbyterian Youth Triennium being held this week on the campus of Purdue University. Sponsored by the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and the Cumberland Presbyterian Church, the event’s 2016 theme is “GO!”
A raucous, festive atmosphere punctuated the opening worship Tuesday night in Purdue University’s Elliot Hall of Music. Videos, chest-thumping music, energizers, and skits performed by Triennium staff helped work the estimated crowd of 5,000 students and adult volunteers into a multi-media frenzy that rivaled a rock concert in atmosphere and decibels, complete with the obligatory beach ball batted throughout the hall until the Call to Worship commenced.
Presbyterian Youth Triennium (PYT) staff, volunteers and coordinators were commissioned at a Monday evening worship service in the brief pre-conference calm on the campus of Purdue University.
This year’s Triennium participants will have the opportunity to help youth and families in Asia by giving generously to the offering collected on Wednesday, July 20. These funds will help transform shipping containers headed for landfills into a storm-resistant classroom for students at the National Heroes Institute in Leyte.
The Rev. Dr. Jason Brian Santos isn’t just playing games. Now he’s designing them, too. His newly-minted card game, UGRAD, is set to debut at the Presbyterian Youth Triennium the week of July 19-23, 2016.
Since she received her call to ministry, Anna Sweet Brockman has served in a variety of ministries including pulpit supply, children and youth ministry, and planning for camps and conferences.

Dr. Perryn Rice, senior pastor of Lake Highlands Presbyterian Church—a joint congregational witness of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Dallas, Texas—couldn’t have written his credentials as the closing preacher at the Presbyterian Youth Triennium any better.
The Rev. Dr. Alice Ridgill, founding pastor of New Faith Presbyterian Church in Greenwood, South Carolina, will deliver Thursday afternoon’s sermon at the 2016 Presbyterian Youth Triennium. Preaching on the theme of “Teach Me the Way I Should Go,” Ridgill’s sermon follows the “GO!” theme and scriptures guiding the content of the conference.
