The John Bulow Campbell Library at Columbia Theological Seminary will be one of the first seminary libraries to host the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of Natural History traveling exhibit “Exploring Human Origins: What Does it Mean to be Human?”
The Board of Trustees of Columbia Theological Seminary has appointed David Huffine, a certified fundraising executive, to be the seminary’s vice president for Advancement, according to a seminary news release.
When Thomas Hampton (MDiv ’19) came to Columbia Theological Seminary in the fall of 2016, it might have seemed like a huge departure from his previous experience as an engineering student at Case Western Reserve University. President M. Craig Barnes of Princeton Theological Seminary and Executive Director Thomas J. Hastings of the Overseas Ministries Study Center (OMSC), a renowned research institute for world Christianity and a gathering place for global Christian leaders, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) Wednesday in New Haven, Connecticut. The MOU provides for OMSC to relocate its operations and programs to the Seminary beginning in summer 2020. After a two-year transitional period, OMSC will become an official program of Princeton Seminary.
At its annual meeting last month, the McCormick Theological Seminary Board of Trustees elected Connie Lindsey of Chicago as Chair. According to a seminary news release, she is Executive Vice President and Head of Corporate Social Responsibility and Global Diversity and Inclusion at the Northern Trust. She succeeds Peter J. Cochrane of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Minneapolis. The Board also elected the Rev. Erica Y. Liu, co-pastor of Pres House in Madison, Wis., as Vice Chair.
Author Robert P. Jones will be the speaker at a breakfast sponsored by the Presbyterian Foundation at Big Tent in Baltimore on August 2.

Dr. Love Sechrest, Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of Faculty at Columbia Theological Seminary, announced Tuesday that Wonchul Shin will be called as the Visiting Professor of Ethics and Theology, and Louisville Institute Postdoctoral Fellow effective Aug. 26.

Herbert Nelson, II, Stated Clerk of the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), told a packed Caldwell Chapel Friday during the inauguration of the seminary’s 10th president, the Rev. Dr. Alton B. Pollard III. “A new day is coming to this institution, a new day that has been ordained by God. Praise be to God for what God has in store for this work of ministry and faith.”
