Evangelism

A Vision for Evangelism in the Presbyterian Church, (U.S.A.)

We believe a cultural storm has wreaked havoc on the religious landscape in America — and across the world.  Our churches are still standing, but increasingly we wonder where are the people?  What should congregations do?

To facilitate conversation around this question we at the Presbyterian Mission Agency created a new resource, Engage, for churches to  approach evangelism in new ways that will help them become more relevant in their communities again.

As congregations using Engage learn how to share their faith, and work for social justice, they discover others who are willing to join them in following Jesus— and join them in God’s mission of transformation in their neighborhoods and communities. Download the original Engage resource that begins with the Jesus question, “who do you say that I am?”

You may also order Engage curriculum from the PC(USA) store. The curriculum is designed for small group study from our church store.

You can also engage by using our short form video training produced in five easy to use chapters.

Turn to the Living God

More than 25-years ago, the 203rd General Assembly (1991) adopted a statement representing policy regarding the nature and practice of evangelism in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) This ‘Call to Evangelism in the Jesus Christ’s Way’ still speaks with power today — what is crystal clear since its writing is that we can no longer just stay in our churches waiting for people to come to us.

We invite you to read this special edition of Turn to the Living God with fresh eyes, as you become part of God’s mission to the world — and hear the words of Jesus anew “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.”
