Independence

Landon Whitsitt is a pastor from Kansas City and a wanna-be gardener .  He and his wife, Jerilyn, co-author the blog grow. eat. laugh. love., which chronicles their journey to living a new food lifestyle. This article is cross-posted there.

Jerilyn and I got out in the yard yesterday and began building the raised beds for the garden.  As we were working she looked at me and said “Today, we are declaring our independence from crappy food.”

She’s right.  It will be a good while before we have our food constitution and bill of rights written and ratified, but we have definitely made our declaration of independence.  We have now staked our claim to eat good food, not just staked our tomatoes.
