Earth Care Congregations celebrating Earth Day 2016: Westminster Presbyterian Church (Wilmington)

In a variety of ways, all across the country, Presbyterians celebrated Earth Day. In small and large congregations, in community celebrations or in church worship, certified Earth Care Congregations used the opportunity of Earth Day as a way to care for God’s good creation.

Westminster’s Earth Care Team is sponsoring engaging activities for all ages at the 10 a.m. hour on April 24, celebrating Earth Day. Please join us for learning and fun!

Learn what we can do to help our native species thrive.

Delaware Center for Horticulture will share the benefits of native vs. non-native plants and will offer helpful information on native plants that abstract pollinators, particularly butterflies. Children will have the opportunity to pot seeds in hopes of starting a  butterfly garden.

Have some close encounters with WILD ANIMALS, brought by naturalist Sheila Vincent from Delaware Nature Society.

Come learn about all things energy! Representatives will be here from Delaware Interfaith Power and Light, Delmarva Power, and Energize Delaware with information about faith based response to climate change, energy use and savings opportunities. Hear about the opportunity to have a whole house energy audit for $100. Fun, hands on exhibits!

Don’t throw out those catalogs. Repurpose them at the Earth Care event into place mats and coasters. Learn what (and what not) to recycle in Delaware, with information from the Delaware Solid Waste Authority!
