October 2013 Presbyterians for Earth Care Conference gathers faithful folks from across the country

“Surely God is in this place” we sang together. And, the presence of God certainly moved among and energized the hundred Presbyterians (and ecumenical friends) gathered in Little Rock, AR at Fernliff Camp and Conference Center from October 16-19, 2013. We shared stories, created relationships, learned new things, collected helpful resources, and were inspired to go back home and do the work that God calls us each to do!

Lay leaders, environmentalists, pastors, young adults, and veteran Presbyterian earth-keepers alike found these few days full of great content, helpful connections, and fun. We had chances to tour the Heifer International L.E.E.D. platinum certified building, to see the Clinton Presidential Center– which is also L.E.E.D. certified, to visit Central High School, to explore the many wonderful projects happening at Ferncliff, to engage creative worship, to hear from plenary speaker Larry Rasmussen, and to take a host of helpful workshops from diverse leaders.

Members from more than a dozen of our PCUSA Earth Care Congregations attended the Presbyterians for Earth Care Conference and had time over meals to meet one another and exchange success stories and challenges.

Free time hikes and spontaneous conversations and networking opportunities were just as crucial as the planned-ahead parts of this great conference.

More stories and pictures coming soon- stay tuned!
