Earth Day is celebrated on April 22 each year, and Presbyterian churches are urged to celebrate Earth Day Sunday near this date. This year, Earth Day and Earth Day Sunday are one and the same: April 22nd!
The National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Program produces Earth Day Sunday resources each year that the Presbyterian Church USA Environmental Ministries program supports. The theme for 2012 is “A Life of Abundance: Energy and Ethics.” Download the resource, which explores the importance of community and shares information on how churches can work in community for eco-justice in the areas of food, water and air. Materials include sermon starters, a bulletin insert and ideas for church action.
