Grace and Peace

Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ! My name is Rebecca Barnes-Davies and I am the new Associate for Environmental Ministries (PCUSA). I recently graduated from Louisville Seminary with an MDiv and Masters of Art in Religion (MAR) dual degree. Before seminary, I served as the coordinator of Presbyterians for Earth Care (then Presbyterians for Restoring Creation) from 2000-2007, was part of the Environmental Justice Office (2000-2003), and participated in the National Council of Churches Eco-Justice Programs. I am delighted to re-enter environmental justice ministry alongside you.

Recognizing that this blog has been inactive since Katie Holmes’ departure from PCUSA staff (she is now doing exciting work on the local level around environmental issues), I wanted first to greet you and introduce myself.

Starting this work just about a month ago, I have deeply enjoyed learning about the wonderful eco-justice ministries happening in churches, camp/conference centers, and individuals’ lives across the country. I look forward to continuing to connect with good folks doing meaningful work.

There are many resources, events, and issues that call for our attention in this New Year. I pray that 2012 will hold many blessings for you, for our common eco-justice ministry, and for all the earth.
