The Prophets and the Birth of Jesus: Headed someplace special?

Matthew 2:14–15 • Then Joseph got up, took the child and his mother by night, and went to Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod. This was to fulfill what had been spoken by the Lord through the prophet: “Out of Egypt I have called my son.”

We travel to various places for different reasons. Sometimes it’s for personal recreation, while others are forced to flee for personal safety. High school students travel abroad for study, while 65 million refugees flee hoping for a new life.

To encounter Jesus is to go on a life-changing journey. Along the way, a transformation occurs in our living, thinking and awareness. We become new beings living with a renewed purpose. Sometimes to go on a journey we don’t have to travel a great distance. Our faith can take us a long way on the path of discovery.

Lord, may our faith take us on a spiritual journey of growth and maturity. Amen.
