The Prophets and the Teachings of Jesus: God forgives

Hosea 4:14 • I will not punish your daughters when they play the whore, nor your daughters-in-law when they commit adultery; for the men themselves go aside with whores, and sacrifice with temple prostitutes; thus a people without understanding comes to ruin.

John 8:10–11 • Jesus straightened up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?” She said, “No one, sir.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on do not sin again.”

Have you ever made a mistake? Have you had unhealthy relationships but stayed in them anyway? Have you ever publicly or privately been confronted with charges of sin or wrongdoing? Know that God is not standing over you in condemnation. God is willing to grant forgiveness for any sin you commit. God promises to forgive our sin and remember it no more (Jeremiah 31:34). In Jesus Christ, you are forgiven.

Lord, even when others condemn us, you do not. Thank you. Amen.
