The Prophets and the Teachings of Jesus: Treating others God’s way
Matthew 7:12 • In everything do to others as you would have them do to you; for this is the law and the prophets.
Jesus’ teaching has been coined as “The Golden Rule.”
Almost every culture has this call to unselfishness. “Treat others as you treat yourself” (India). “Do not do to others what you know has hurt yourself” (Tamil language, Sri Lanka). “Do not do to others that which angers you when they do it to you” (Greece). “Treat your inferior as you would wish your superior to treat you” (Italy).
It is not just a golden rule — it is a Christian way of life. This is the law; go and do likewise.
Lord, enable us to treat others better than we desire to be treated. Amen.
