Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn her seven pillars.She has slaughtered her animals, she has mixed her wine, she has also set her table.She has sent out her servant-girls, she calls from the highest places in the town,“You that are simple, turn in here!” To those without sense she says, “Come, eat of my bread
and drink of the wine I have mixed. Lay aside immaturity, and live, and walk in the way of insight.” —Proverbs 9:1–6
Wisdom builds her house
by putting on her apron
and rolling up her sleeves.
Wisdom builds her house
by setting the table
and offering a feast.
Wisdom builds her house
by sharing her bread
and avoiding isolation.
Wisdom builds her house
by pouring her wine
and cultivating relations.
Wisdom builds her house
by partnering with others
and spreading the word.
Wisdom builds her house
by inviting the seekers
and being light for the world.
Wisdom builds . . .
She has discovered the secret to abundant life:
set the table, open the door wide,
welcome the stranger, let others inside.
But Folly destroys . . .
She has mastered the ways of constant strife:
control resources, hoard provisions,
starve nations, launch invasions.
Forgive us, God of Wisdom,
for engaging in trivial pursuits
and neglecting to seek your truth.
Forgive us, God of Hospitality,
for worrying about projected costs
and failing to serve as hosts.
Forgive us, God of the Banquet,
for indulging in fruitless delights
and depriving the world of your light.

La sabiduría ha edificado su casa; la ha afirmado con siete columnas labradas, ha sacrificado los animales para el banquete, ha mezclado el vino y preparado la mesa. Ahora llama desde lo alto de la ciudad, luego de haber enviado a sus criadas.Invita a los ingenuos a acercarse; les dice a los faltos de cordura:«¡Vengan y coman de mi pan! ¡Beban del vino que he mezclado!¡Déjense de tonterías, y vivan! ¡Sigan el camino de la inteligencia!» —Proverbios 9:1–6
La sabiduría edifica su casa
amarrándose el delantal
y enrollándose las mangas.
La sabiduría edifica su casa
poniendo la mesa
y ofreciendo una fiesta.
La sabiduría edifica su casa
compartiendo su pan
y evitando el aislamiento.
La sabiduría edifica su casa
vertiendo su vino.
y cultivando el acercamiento.
La sabiduría edifica su casa
asociándose con otros
y difundiendo la palabra.
La sabiduría edifica su casa
invitando a los sedientos
y disipando la penumbra.
La sabiduría edifica . . .
Ella ha descubierto el secreto de la vida abundante:
poner la mesa, abrir los portones,
recibir al extranjero, repartir bendiciones.
Pero la necedad destruye . . .
Ella ha dominado el arte de la lucha incesante:
controlar recursos, acaparar provisiones,
empobrecer poblaciones, lanzar invasiones.
Perdónanos, Dios de la Sabiduría,
por desgastarnos con la trivialidad
y desatender la búsqueda de tu verdad.
Perdónanos, Dios de la Hospitalidad,
por obsesionarnos con las compensaciones
y fallar en servir como anfitriones.
Perdónanos, Dios del Banquete,
por consentirnos con deleites infructíferos
y ofrecer al mundo un legado mortífero.
