by Alison Fraser
Hello, my name is Alison Fraser and I am working this year as an intern at the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations. The goal of the staff here are to equip and connect Presbyterians for ministry, in order to serve as faithful disciples of Jesus to the global community. In supporting this work, I will be learning about how the church responds to the realities of the issues of security, instability, hunger, peace, justice and reconciliation.
I grew up in the Pacific Northwest and British Columbia, and moved out to New York to participate in Teach for America, and spent several years as a 2nd and 3rd grade teacher in Brooklyn. I have worked in Latin America and East Africa, primarily in Guatemala, Kenya and Ethiopia with a focus on maternal health and refugee rights. I am interested in learning about how the PC(USA) both participates in the community of international actors at the United Nations and teaches and equips congregations in how they can become actors and advocates at the grassroots level.
I am a candidate for the ordained ministry under care of the Bee Ridge Presbyterian Church and Peace River Presbytery.
