South Sudan Appeal

The Office of Public Witness recently posted an action alert encouraging Presbyterians to advocate with our government to support increased diplomatic initiatives, humanitarian access and funding for humanitarian aid for South Sudan.

Our Area Coordinator for Africa reports:

The situation has only worsened since that time; the atrocities that have been committed in Bentiu and Bor are heart wrenching. In addition to pressing for governmental action  we believe it’s crucial for us to support the church’s response to the situation through  support of  the ACT Alliance and the Presbyterian Relief and Development’s work in relief and RECONCILE’s work in peace building.

The initial funding we received was used to support relief efforts carried out by ACT  and  PRDA and we are sending additional funds to RECONCILE to continue its work with the church leaders.  But in the face of this tragic situation our partners feel God is calling them to do more, therefore contributions to the South Sudan Appeal are needed more than ever!
Please prayerfully consider if God might be calling you to respond to this tragic situation by contributing to this appeal.
