Advent Devotion – Tuesday, December 17

Reflection and Prayer by Katy Constantinides (10th grade)

1. What does it mean to be a lukewarm Christian today?

2. Why does a lukewarm church offend God?

Prayer: Lukewarm Christians just don’t care. They go to church most of the time and maybe even attend youth group, but their faith is not acted on in their daily lives. They simply go through the motions. No actual effort to care for God’s people or help others is done. A lukewarm church offends God because it pretends to be a body of Christ. Pretenders are known by the Almighty God and do not please him.

Prayer: Lord, help me to be more than just a lukewarm Christian. Give me the strength to live your teachings in my daily life. Amen.

The 2013 Advent Devotions were written by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) youth and their leaders at the 2013 Youth Triennium. Each day provides a lectionary-based Scripture passage, questions for reflection, and the students’ responses.
