Advent Devotion – Monday, December 9

Reflection and Prayer by Mary Kathryn McGregor (10th grade)

Psalm 145:8-20

1. Reflect on ways that you have personally experienced God’s faithfulness.

2. What does God require of his people?

Reflection: I experience God’s faithfulness when I see the joy in people’s eyes when they are helped, the comfort between the person helping and the one being helped. God requires his people to be kind, compassionate, and helpful. God wants us all to get along and to love one another. When we don’t do this, God is disappointed because we were all created in his image and should act like it. We are required to love God and love our neighbors.

Prayer: I pray that all of us, God’s children, will show our love to not only God, but also to one another. I pray that we will work together to make the world a better place.

The 2013 Advent Devotions were written by Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) youth and their leaders at the 2013 Youth Triennium. Each day provides a lectionary-based Scripture passage, questions for reflection, and the students’ responses.
