Summer 2013 intern at the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations – Anna Folz

Anna FolzMy name is Anna Folz and I am one of the summer interns for the Presbyterian Office at the UN. I am from Stony Brook, Long Island and am currently studying public health and international studies at Franklin and Marshall College in Lancaster, Penna. I have been engaged in several independent study courses at F&M which are focused on a newly established organization I formed called Impulso. Impulso was founded following work I was doing in San Felipe, Guatemala two years ago.  While working there I daily faced the health, educational and environmental problems caused by the continual use of wood fires for both cooking and heating.  I concluded my work there with a focus on helping to alleviate some of these issues by providing solar ovens for some of the indigenous families living in the highlands of Guatemala.  I presently am focused on this project and have incorporated this work in my studies at Franklin and Marshall College.

I am very honored to be able to intern at the Presbyterian Office this summer. I am eager to learn and understand how the Presbytery works along side the United Nations. I look forward to observing first hand how the peace and justice issues confronting the Presbytery are incorporated in the work the Presbytery does with the UN.
