An outcome of the 55th Session of the Commission on the Status of Women will be the agreed conclusions.

IMG_1106 Through the agreed conclusions, the Commission will urge "Governments, the relevant entities of the United Nations system, international and regional organizations, and civil society, including educational, scientific research and scientific research funding institutions, the private sector, employer organizations, trade unions, professional bodies, and non-governmental organizations," to take specific actions.

These actions will address the priority theme of the Commission: "Access and participation of women and girls in education, training, science and technology, including for the promotion of women’s equal access to full employment and decent work."

The Commission has a starting point of draft agreed conclusions. During the Commission this draft will be discussed and revised. Members of non-governmental community and others will advocate to have their concerns included in the final version of the agreed conclusions. Presbyterians will work with Ecumenical Women, using the 2011 CSW Statement as a basis for advocacy.

The picture, by Christine Mangale of the Lutheran Office for World Community, shows participants in the Ecumenical Women orientation. The orientation included time to reflect on the advocacy process.
