Upcoming: side event at the CSW

Presbyterian Women are bringing Milcah Lalam of RECONCILE in Sudan to the CSW (Commission on the Status of Women) in February. The Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations will host the Presbyterian presence at the CSW.

Lalam RECONCILE's mission is to "contribute to Nation Building by facilitating processes for equipping communities in Sudan with knowledge and skills for sustainable Peace through trauma healing, accountable governance and social transformation."

Milcah is RECONCILE’s programs manager and acting principal for RECONCILE Peace Institute. She is a peace building development specialist with special expertise in trauma healing, drama as therapy and story-telling. Milcah works closely with women, children, youth, victims of rape and abuse, displaced persons, development and human rights workers in post-war contexts.

Milcah will participate in a side event at CSW on post-trauma healing, transformation, and reconciliation. She will serve on a panel with other women from the Global South who will share learning methodologies that make strides to a broader paradigm shift to full inclusion and participation of women and girls in society and decision-making. The event will take place on Wednesday, February 23, 2011.
