President Benigno Simeon Aquino III of the Philippines has ordered that the charges be withdrawn against the Morong 43 – health care workers held by the government of the Philippines since February.
Actually it is more accurate to refer to the group as the Morong 43+2. Two babies have been born while the group is imprisoned – their mothers were pregnant when arrested.
The announcement came on December 10 – Human Rights Day – and was greeted with joy by those held in prison and their families and supporters.
Hopes are that the Morong 43 will be released by Christmas.
The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) is among those who have supported the Morong 43 and called for their release.
Hold the Morong 43 and their families and friends in prayer as their freedom appears to draw near.
