Thirty

IMG_2553 The planning team and leadership team for the 2010 Presbyterian Peacemaking Seminar gathered for worship this morning.

The seminar is being held to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Peacemaking: The Believers' Calling, the General Assembly statement that called the Presbyterian Church to renewed intentional peacemaking following Jesus Christ and created the Peacemaking Offering and the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program. It is a time to remember how God has guided Presbyterian peacemakers in the past; to give thanks for current peacemaking ministries; and to open ourselves to how the Holy Spirit might be beckoning us into the future.

David Gambrell, associate for worship, led the worship service. He noted that he had pondered where in the Bible thirty years appeared. Turning to Luke 3, he noted that Jesus was thirty years old when he began his public ministry (3:23)!

Pray that this year marks new beginnings in peacemaking ministry in the life of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.).
