The baby boy arrived

Last evening, we posted an invitation to prayer for Ms. Judilyn Oliveros of the Philippines.

Tonight, we invite you to give thanks. Her baby boy arrived today – delivered by c-section in a hospital. He is healthy and is 6.8 pounds. Judilyn is also okay, but spent a long time in recovery. The baby is breastfeeding already.

Guards have accompanied Judilyn to this hospital. This makes things more than a little awkward.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) has joined the United Church of Christ in the Philippines and others in appealing for Judilyn's release on humanitarian grounds.

The appeal calls for the release of all the members of the Morong 43, including Ms. Mercedes (Mercy) Castro, because our church partners are convinced they are innocent.

You can join the effort by sending a respectful letter to H.E. Benigno S.C. Aquino III, President of the Philippines and other leaders in the Filipino government. Here are email addresses to use:

H.E. Benigno C. Aquino III
President of the Republic
Malacañang Palace,
JP Laurel St., San Miguel
Manila, Philippines
E-mail: OR

Sec. Teresita Quintos-Deles
Presidential Adviser on the Peace Process

Ret. Lt. Gen. Voltaire T. Gazmin
Acting Secretary, Department of National Defense

Atty. Leila De Lima

In prayer we give thanks for the safe arrival of Judilyn's son. We pray that justice and peace may reign for the people of the Philippines.

Your gifts can help support victims of human rights abuses in the Philippines.
