I pray for peace (Triennium, Day 3)

SMALL IMG_2301 There was a steady flow of people in the exhibit hall of the Presbyterian Youth Triennium today. Many participants stopped by the booth of the Presbyterian Ministry at the United Nations, the Office on Child Advocacy, and the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program. Participants added prayers to the Peace Prayer Wall – it is growing. Prayers for peace included (and were often repeated):

  • in our government
  • for inner cities and urban areas
  • in our home towmy home town
  • in Israel and Palestine
  • for the church in Puerto Rico
  • for those who have lost loved ones to gun violence
  • in Colombia
  • on Korean Peninsula
  • for children with nothing or no one
  • in Burundi
  • in Turkey
  • on the Gulf of Mexico – for people and animals affected by the oil spill
  • in Iraq
  • in Haiti
  • in Sri Lanka
  • in Indonesia
  • in abusive families
  • in broken homes
  • for Christians who are persecuted for their faith
  • in Tibet
  • that comes with a flood of justice
  • for a cure for Crohn’s disease
  • for Triennium
  • for people of different faiths and religions
  • for all those fighting in wars
  • for child soldiers
  • for those with health issues

  • for those who turn to violence
  • for those who grieve
  • for soldiers who have been wounded

  • that will come when human trafficking ends
  • in the hearts of those who look peaceful but are not
  • for pets without good homes
