Churches to pursue rights cases under new Philippines’ president

There is a new president in the Philippines.

There is new leadership for the United Church of Christ in the Philippines.

What will come next?

According to a story from Ecumenical News International (posted by the Presbyterian News Service), the church will make an effort to address the human rights abuses that occurred during the terms served by the former president.

"Under a newly proclaimed president who has pledged to bring in judicial reforms Filipino church leaders are seeking the resolution of unresolved human rights cases, including extra-judicial killings, enforced disappearances, illegal arrests, and the detention of church workers."
