Bring materials to contribute to the Communal Art Project.
Seminar participant are invited to bring materials to contribute to the “Communal Art Project." Daily throughout the seminar and on Saturday afternoon, participants will create a communal art piece utilizing the materials we bring involving our hands, heart and prayers. Our time, somewhat revered and surely restorative, involves weaving (in a non-traditional manner) the various strips of material brought from our homes, communities and churches into a Communal Art Project. Inspiration for this piece will be all around us at Ghost Ranch in the desert landscape, rich in colors soft and deep. As you consider what you will bring, think: natural tones and textures.
Participants are asked to give materials, no shorter than one foot: a spool of twine, cord, ribbon, raffia, yarn, fabric tape or similar. Long lengths will be cut once we're on site. Fabric (cotton, linen; flax blended and silk) can be used by tearing it into long strips, you may want to test that it actually is a type of fabric that will tear prior to packing it in your bag! Thank you and don't hesitate to email Nancy Esajian if you have questions regarding bringing materials.
