The Coalition of Immokalee Workers will hold a “Farmworker Freedom March” from Tampa to Lakeland, Florida, April 16-18, 2010, calling for freedom from forced labor; freedom from abuse; freedom from poverty and degradation. Lakeland is where the Publix grocery-chain is headquartered. In a lead-up to the Freedom March, a mobile modern-day slavery museum will tour Florida. The museum is a replica of the cargo box truck in which farmworkers were chained and held in the most recent slavery case in the Florida fields.
