World Communion Sunday

Many Presbyterian congregations receive the Peacemaking Offering on World Communion Sunday – October 4, this year.

Each year, the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program provides worship resources to use in this celebration of the Lord's Supper.

Here is a prayer for the day for World Communion Sunday this year:

O Creator God, as we gather to worship you on this day, let your Holy Spirit fall upon this community of faith. As we celebrate and partake in Communion with other believers, we ask that you may fill us with the bread of heaven and the cup of salvation. Empower us through Word and Sacrament that we may work for justice and peace for all people. In the name of your Son, Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.

This prayer, and the other worship resources for this year are written by the Rev. Dr. Byron Anthony Wade, vice-moderator of the 218th General Assembly (2008) of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) and serves as pastor of Davie Street Presbyterian Church in Raleigh, North Carolina.
