Pray for Iran

Events in Iran following the election, are astounding the world.

Here are a couple places to follow events in Iran:

MSNBC is posting updates as is the BBC. Trita Parsi, president and cofounder of the National Iranian American Council suggests a response for the United States is to "condemn violence without picking sides."

Some of the best information appears to be coming from people in Iran who share their insights via social networking. Go to the Twitter search engine and type in "#IranElections." Remember, this is social networking so read carefully.

Our Christian partners are concerned, and have urged our prayers for peace, calm and stability.

Pray for the people as they make their witness.

Pray for the leaders that they will not turn for violence.

Pray that justice will be done and that peace will prevail.

Pray for the Christians of Iran, including the Evangelical (Presbyterian) Church of Iran.

The Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)'s Office on the Middle East has sent the following message to the general secretary of the Evangelical Church of Iran:

As many of us, with the rest of the world, have been watching the elections, you and our dear friends of the ECI have been very much in our thoughts and hearts. Prayers continue to be lifted up for you, and our supplications to the Lord continue that God will work His purpose out to the glory of His name, the well-being of the church and the people of Iran, and the peace of the world. We offer special prayer that God will guide those in authority to do His good will, and keep them on the path of peace.
