Close the gun show loophole

Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) has introduced legislation, S. 843, which will close the gun show loophole so that individuals will not be able to exploit gun shows and similar events to buy and sell guns without criminal background checks.

The Brady Campaign offers an opportunity to ask your Senators to cosponsor this legislation.

Similar legislation has been introduced in the House of Representatives as H.R. 2324. Representative Michael Castle (R-DE) is the lead sponsor.

calling Presbyterians to work with legislators “to ensure that all persons buying guns at gun shows undergo a background check, close the gun show loophole in the thirty-five states where it remains open."
