Pray for Christians in Iraq

Religious leaders around the world, including those in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), are asking their members to pray for the Christian community in Iraq and particularly the northern city of Mosul, where more than two dozen Christians have been murdered in recent days. One of the five Presbyterian-Reformed churches in Iraq is located in Mosul.

Requests for prayer have come from Christians in Iraq as have requests to contact the government of Iraq.

General Assembly Moderator Bruce Reyes-Chow, General Assembly Council Executive Director Linda Valentine and General Assembly Stated Clerk Gradye Parsons have sent a letter to Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki urging Iraqi government protection for their Christian citizens

They have also asked Presbyterians to join in prayer for the Christian community in Iraq.
