The Presbyterians are gathering. Many commissioners, advisory delegates, advocates, observers and others have arrived in San Jose. Meetings have begun. The exhibit hall looks ready to go. Registration begins in earnest in the morning (Friday 20 June).
Friday afternoon will see an antiracism training led by the Office of Racial Justice and Advocacy, the Office of Cultural Proficiency, and the Presbyterian Peacemaking Program. Participants will be invited to reflect on their experience of racism, God’s call to dismantle racism and build the Beloved Community, and how we can live into that call.
Additional meetings and sessions for orientation as well as for planning and strategizing will take place. The 218th General Assembly (2008) convenes at 10:00 AM (Pacific Time) on Saturday 21 June.
