South Africa: A Witness to the Light

With_joy_story_6  By Joy Gaska, guest author

Today was our first day venturing out into the community to assess the current HIV/AIDS situation in Cape Town. We met with local Faith Based Organizations (FBOs) who readily welcomed us and shared with us their daily mission. In the afternoon we were able to tour the infectious disease section of the government hospital and went to a community clinic.

Despite the fact the South Africa has the largest population infected with HIV/AIDS; hope exists in these devoted, passionate servants. One of the speakers quoted Confucius: "Better to light a small candle than curse the darkness". We were blessed to be a witness to the light today.

Joy’s congregation has created a Web page to follow her travels.
