With participants hailing from Kentucky to Puerto Rico, Racial Equity & Women’s Intercultural Ministries (RE&WIM) held its first October Election-Fest event on Thursday. RE&WIM, in partnership with GreenFaith, held Compassionate Voting 101, the first in the series of month-long events designed to help young adults of color navigate a difficult and critically important election year.

As civil rights activists gathered in Washington, D.C., on Friday for the 57th anniversary of the historic March on Washington, Americans were reminded of the day’s significance. It was on August 28, 1963, when the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his iconic “I Have A Dream” speech during that landmark event.

The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Law and order exists for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose, they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress.” Is the current unrest around the country and particularly in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Louisville, Kentucky, a result of decades of law and order failing in its purpose to establish justice?

Mentoring event for leaders of color gathers at Zephyr Point

Eighteen pastors are gathered at the Zephyr Point Presbyterian Conference Center on Lake Tahoe this week to engage in a program of mentoring that hopes to develop future leaders of the church while improving their skills for professional advancement and self-care.
