Seeking justice in the death of George Floyd by honoring his life

Before some 60,000 supporters met together at Houston’s Discovery Green park to join the family of George Floyd in a peaceful march to City Hall this week, about 200 clergy from diverse faiths, ethnicities and backgrounds gathered in the ballroom of a nearby hotel to pray.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Law and order exists for the purpose of establishing justice and when they fail in this purpose, they become the dangerously structured dams that block the flow of social progress.” Is the current unrest around the country and particularly in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Louisville, Kentucky, a result of decades of law and order failing in its purpose to establish justice?

Minneapolis church opens new wing

Westminster Presbyterian Church opened its spacious new wing on Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, with more than 1,100 people celebrating the physical connection of their 121-year-old church to a new building full of sunlight and color.

PMAB Executive Committee looks into mission outreach in Minneapolis/St. Paul

After a full day of presentations and discussion on Monday, the Presbyterian Mission Agency Board Executive Committee took a field trip on Tuesday. The group is in the middle of a three-day retreat in St. Paul, Minnesota and stepped away from the conference room to learn about local mission outreach and church expansion.
