Jazzy Christmas, a highly-anticipated yuletide concert put on each year by New Hope Presbyterian Church in Anaheim, California, can’t, because of the pandemic, be held in person this month.
As a pastor of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Kansas City, Missouri, my job is to make things happen that are sometimes out of the box — like starting a food pantry for musicians.
Early in 2010, our church drummer, Sam Johnson Jr., wondered if a pantry for musicians could happen. He stated that he “had all these cats to feed.”
What more fitting season of the liturgical year than Christmas for the performing artist, composer, producer, broadcaster, educator, music minister, PC(USA) ruling elder, and interfaith missionary, Warren Cooper, to live out the incarnational nature of his own multi-faceted calling?
