Mississippi church lends helping hand in Mound Bayou

Ten churches selected to receive $1.9 million in preservation grants

Second Presbyterian Church in Chicago is among 10 churches around the country to receive a total of $1.9 million in repair and restoration funds designed to safeguard their physical legacies and strengthen the value they contribute to their communities. The grants were announced in a news release Thursday by the National Fund for Sacred Places.

New worshiping community receives $50K Walton Award

New Creation Presbyterian Church, a 1001 New Worshiping Community in Hendersonville, Tennessee, plans to use a recent $50,000 award for its $2.5 million building campaign. New Creation, which became an official PC(USA) chartered congregation last year, was named a winner of a $50,000 2019 Sam and Helen R. Walton Award in March.

Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation receives $1 million grant

The Omaha Presbyterian Seminary Foundation (OPSF) has received a $1 million grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. to help establish its Pastoral Leadership Revitalization program. The grant will cover the first three years of the program and will focus on pastors in three geographical areas: Central Nebraska, Omaha and the surrounding area in the Missouri River Valley Presbytery, and in the Missouri Union Presbytery.

University of Dubuque Theological Seminary receives nearly $1 million grant

Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) University of Dubuque Theological Seminary (UDTS) has received a $936,102 grant to help support the Clergy Coaching in Community and Context initiative. The grant is part of Lilly Endowment Inc.’s Thriving in Ministry, an initiative that supports a variety of religious organizations across the nation as they create or strengthen programs that help pastors build relationships with experienced clergy who can serve as mentors and guide them through key leadership challenges in congregational ministry.
