PHILADELPHIA — Andrew J. Browne was named Executive Vice President at the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), effective July 1.

Browne, formerly Senior Vice President of Church Engagement, succeeds Linda Jacobsen, who retired recently after serving the Board of Pensions for more than 15 years, first on the Board of Directors and then as a staff member.

“Andy’s strong ties to the denomination and his relationships across the Church, from the congregational to the national levels, make him a valuable addition to our executive leadership,” said the Rev. Dr. Frank Clark Spencer, President of the Board. “He’s deeply knowledgeable about the changing Church and the Board of Pensions and is well positioned to continue the work Linda began.”

Browne will oversee the teams responsible for the Board’s engagement with, and support of, PC(USA) employers and caucus groups, PC(USA)-affiliated employers, and members of the Benefits Plan of the PC(USA): Affiliate Markets, the Assistance Program, Church Engagement, Education, and Marketing and Communications.

“I’m excited about this opportunity and grateful that it’s come at such an important time in the history of the Board and the Church,” Browne said. “With the denomination evolving, our focus is on strengthening our existing connections and building new ones.”

Browne has served the Board of Pensions for nearly 25 years, beginning that service as a two-term member of its Board of Directors. He joined the staff as Assistant Corporate Secretary in 2007, holding roles including Corporate Secretary and Vice President, Church Relations. Browne holds an MBA from the Fox School of Business at Temple University and a bachelor’s in psychology.

Browne is the son of a Presbyterian minister and grandson and great-grandson of Presbyterian missionaries. He has been an advisory delegate to General Assembly, a clerk of session, a presbytery moderator, and an elected member of the General Assembly Council, now the Presbyterian Mission Agency.
