What we do
The Presbyterian Hunger Program (PHP) is a ministry of the PC(USA) working with congregations and partners around the globe to alleviate hunger and eliminate its causes. Nationally and internationally, our many programs and partnerships complement each other in this work. Our work to alleviate the struggles of our brothers and sisters around the world supports God's vision of a community where all people have sufficient, healthy, and culturally appropriate food.
We recognize the enormity of the task to which we are committing ourselves, as well as the risk of much that we shall seek to do. We have no illusion of easy success in this undertaking. Yet we dare to act because we dare to hope.
—Common Affirmation on Global Hunger, 199th General Assembly
PHP is committed to the belief that life should be lived simply so that all can simply live. The everyday choices we make in our individual and family lives is a very personal matter, but they also have global implications. Understanding what causes hunger in the world is central to finding solutions. PHP encourages families, individuals, and church groups to evaluate their own needs and develop new ways of caring and sharing of the world's resources in obedience to the gospel.
PHP provides educational material, mission opportunities, and action programs for Presbyterians who are passionate about living out God's call to do justice, love mercy, and walk humbly. We connect Presbyterians to impoverished communities, in the US and overseas, to spark understanding about the root causes of hunger and to inspire collaboration with those most affected in order to address systemic obstacles.

I am very encouraged to know of one Christian Church Denomination that is keeping the original purpose of Christian missions going - that of holistic development of the human being. More of your work need to be modelled accross the globe to teach the world how Christ wants development done. George Pile, Africa Inland Church, Kenya.
